Manns Winery offers tours every day! You get to see rows of oak barrels aging their wines in the cellar, and you can taste a bunch of different wines to find your favorite. Super fun experience for wine lovers!
Daihonzan Eigenji Temple
Since its establishment in 1361, it has been the head temple of the Eigenji school of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism, which has been dedicated to the study of zazen and prayers for safety under the sun. In the past, as many as 2,000 monks were said to have gathered here to practice Buddhism, and there are 127 branch temples throughout Japan.
This temple is dedicated to the Child-Giving Kannon. People come here to pray for children, and it’s said to be really effective!
Uwasekigata Park
"Uwasekigata Park", spread out at the foot of Kadota Mountain, is a place where visitors can spend a relaxing time in nature, with a lagoon inhabited by wild birds in the vast site. While the park is conveniently located only 10 minutes by car from downtown Maki and a bus ride from Niigata Station, the approximately 263,000 m2 site allows visitors to enjoy the great outdoors at their leisure.
Uwasekigata Park is amazing in spring with all the cherry blossoms. There are different flowers blooming throughout the year. It’s a great spot for picnics, hiking, or just spending a whole day outdoors.
Miharu Takizakura
The Benishidarezakura (weeping cherry tree) is loved by local residents as a symbol of Miharu Town. It is said that the name "Benishidarezakura" comes from its location in the Taki district, where the small flowers that fill the branches extending in all directions look like a cascading waterfall. The tree is estimated to be over 1,000 years old.
At Miharu Takizakura, you can buy special limited-edition stamps and postcards from the Miharu Post Office. Great for collectors!
Mikimoto Pearl Island
In 1893, Kokichi Mikimoto succeeded in culturing pearls on this island for the first time in the world. You can visit the Pearl Museum and Kokichi Mikimoto Memorial Hall, and watch demonstrations by women divers in the sea.
You can buy pearls at Mikimoto Pearl Island! The products are actually cheaper here than in Taiwan.
Canal City Hakata
On the vast 43,500m² premises, a shopping mall, movie complex, theater, amusement park and two hotels cluster. Its symbol, a 180m-long canal, crosses along the center of the space lined with colorful buildings.
Canal City Hakata isn’t just a shopping mall—it’s a famous Hakata landmark. The buildings are surrounded by a canal, with the sound of fountains and lots of greenery. It really feels like an oasis in the city. Highly recommend!
TENJIN CHIKAGAI
Tenjin area is located in Fukuoka City Chuo-ward, Kyushu’s largest downtown district. Going through the street is Watanabe Street, and to the north, Showa street. To the south is Tenjin Chikagai, an underground street, 600m in length running under Kokutai Street. There are 12 districts, with 150 shops such as apparel, gourmet food, sundries, and books.
Tenjin Chikagai has five major department stores—PARCO, Mitsukoshi, Daimaru, Iwataya, and SOLARIA STAGE. It’s super fun to shop here! I love coming to buy things.
Eboshiyama Park
The park stretches on a hill overlooking the Okitama Basin. Located behind "Akayu Onsen", one of Yamagata's leading hot springs, which has been in operation for more than 920 years, the park is visited by many people throughout the year.
Eboshiyama feels like a little hill, and the park is perfect for cherry blossom viewing with family. At night, you can enjoy the illuminated cherry blossoms too. I come here every year—love it!!!
Kema Sakuranomiya Park
"Kema Sakuranomiya Park", located on both banks of the Okawa River that flows through the center of Osaka City, is a riverside park with a total length of 4.2 km developed in the area from the Kema Araizeki (overflow weir) at the junction with the Yodo River to Tenmabashi Bridge downstream.
After visiting Kema Sakuranomiya Park, the Mint Bureau, and Osaka Castle—three famous cherry blossom spots—I only walked the best part of Kema Sakuranomiya Park, but its cherry blossoms totally won me over. This place is definitely worth the trip!
