Abashiri Prison Museum

Abashiri Prison Museum is an outdoor history museum located in the Abashiri National Park area. On a site equivalent to 3.5 times the size of Tokyo Dome, the former Abashiri Prison buildings have been relocated, restored, preserved, and opened to the public.

This is a history museum where you can learn about the history of Hokkaido's development and what communal life was like back then. The exhibits are clean and easy to understand, and the garden is beautiful too. They had pamphlets in English and Chinese. The grounds are pretty big, so if you want to take your time, make sure you have plenty of time to visit.

Toraya Akasaka Branch

Founded in Kyoto during the late Muromachi period, Toraya expanded to Tokyo in 1869, following the capital's move from Kyoto to Tokyo. Although the Kyoto shop continued its operations, Toraya established its presence in Akasaka, Tokyo from 1879. In 1964, they relocated to their current location, and in 2018, the entire store underwent a renovation and celebrated its grand reopening.

The building itself is impressive, and the exhibits are fantastic too. In the basement gallery, you can see displays of wagashi designs and other materials. If you time it right, you can even view some rare documents for free.

Western-style Bar "Prince"

Operating in the dining district "Nagayokocho Rensa Street", which dates back to the late Showa 20s (1945-1954), this bar was established in Showa 32 (1957). Since its inception, it's not only been a hit with the locals of Hachinohe but also with tourists seeking a deep night experience.

This is deep Hachinohe, the kind of place even many Japanese people don’t know about. The ceiling is covered with business cards from past visitors.

The owner says he can’t drink a drop himself, but he makes beautiful, delicious cocktails. I also heard that part of the sales from the blue cocktail in the photo is donated to marine conservation.

You can also buy logo merchandise online.

SHIBUYA SKY

An observation facility offering a 360-degree panoramic view of the Tokyo cityscape from a height of approximately 230 meters above the ground. Located on the 14th, 45th, 46th and rooftop of Shibuya Scramble Square, the tallest building in the Shibuya area, there are three zones: "SKY GATE," "SKY STAGE" and "SKY GALLERY.

The rooftop is fantastic, but if you want to relax, I recommend sitting on the sofas and enjoying the view. Both the sunny daytime and the night scenery have their own unique charm.

Itsukushima Shrine

Itsukushima Shrine stands on the island of Itsukushima, which is also known as the island of gods. It is said that the shrine was founded in 593 by Saeki no Kuramoto, and the 3 goddess “Ichikishimahime-no-Mikoto,” “Tagorihime-no-Mikoto,” and “Tagitsuhime-no-Mikoto” are enshrined there. Famous for granting a wide list of benefits, these three goddesses as are worshipped as the goddesses of the sea, transportation, fortune, and art.

I finally got to visit Miyajima, a place I've always wanted to see at least once in my life. The great torii gate floating on the sea, and seeing it up close when the tide was out, were both beautiful.
If you're staying on the island without meals included, be aware that shops close early.

Moerenuma Park

Moerenuma Park, an art park, was created as part of the Circular Greenbelt Concept, which aims to surround Sapporo's urban area with a belt of parks and green spaces. Sculptor Isamu Noguchi designed the entire park as a sculpture artwork, and visitors can see the park's various faces as the seasons change.

This is my favorite park. I go to Sapporo at least once a year just to visit here. Early summer and early autumn, when the grass is lush and green, are the best times—so refreshing! The park is huge, so renting a bike is a good idea. The playground equipment designed by Isamu Noguchi and the dynamic fountain show are also highlights.

The museum opened in 2013 in the Kowakudani hot spring area. It was built on the site of the former Kaikatei, a hotel built for Westerners in the Meiji era, and boasts a total of five floors with an area of about 5,000㎡, making it the largest museum in Hakone.

This museum lets you enjoy Asian art in a beautiful setting. There are so many exhibits, so it's really worth taking your time here. If you want to see everything, make sure to set aside plenty of time. The garden is also lovely.

Meiji Shrine was established in 1920 (Taisho 9) as a shrine to enshrine Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken.

A peaceful spot right in the heart of the city. There are lots of tall trees, and it feels more solemn than the open vibe of Yoyogi Park. I recommend the grassy area on the way from Sangubashi toward Yoyogi Station—it's a great place to relax.

Usagiya

Founded in 1913, Usagiya is a long-established traditional Japanese confectionery shop. The name "Usagiya" comes from the founder's zodiac sign, the rabbit.

When you think of Yushima, you think of Usagiya's dorayaki! The moist cake and the sweet bean paste are both absolutely delicious.
Everyone loves them, so they're perfect as a gift or a treat to share.
