After climbing Irohazaka, I finally made it here!
The air is so fresh and clear at this high altitude. It feels amazing. There were a lot of elementary school kids on a field trip that day, so it was pretty lively.

Bandai-Azuma Skyline
Stretching for about 29km, with the highest altitude of 1,622m and an average altitude of 1,350m, it is Japan's first mountain road that runs through the Azuma mountain range. The desolate area, where volcanic gases spew and vegetation is scarce, offers an exotic landscape that's a buzz on social media.
I visited in late April. Even during the day, it was 0°C at the highest point. There was still snow on the roadside, and lots of butterbur flowers were blooming. I was able to climb Mt. Azuma-Kofuji and enjoy some amazing views. It's still pretty cold this time of year, so driving is definitely the way to go!
