The garden is thoughtfully designed, and the prices at the café with a view aren't too high. The scenery is very nice. I recommend visiting with the Have Fun in Kansai Pass—it’s a great value.

Nakamura Tokichi Honten, Uji Main Store
Founded in 1854, the first year of the Ansei era, this tea specialty store is located in Uji, a region nationally renowned for its high-quality Japanese tea.
It opens at 10, but you need to line up shortly after 9 to be among the first group seated. The food is delicious, but the prices are on the high side.

Yoshikien Garden
A Japanese garden located close to Nara Park, a popular sightseeing spot in Nara, and Todai-ji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site. According to the “Kofuku-ji Old Illustrated Map,” this is said to be the site where Manishuin, a sub-temple of Kofuku-ji Temple, stood before the Edo period. It took on its current form in 1919 and was opened to the public during the Heisei era.
You could say it's small but exquisite.
