We took the ferry from downtown Kagoshima to Sakurajima, and the whole tour bus drove right onto the boat. The ride was short, but it was such a unique experience.

Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura
A theme park that recreates the townscapes and culture of the Edo period. Stroll the village streets to find samurai residences, merchant houses, and ninja mansions that evoke of sense of yesteryears.
The theater performances are totally worth it—funny moments, action scenes, and an awesome atmosphere.

Ueno Zoo
This is Japan’s first ever zoo, founded in 1882. Despite its urban setting in the heart of Tokyo, it still keeps a lush, natural environment as well as about 3,000 different animal friends of some 300 different species.
When I visited Ueno Zoo, I happened to catch the cherry blossoms in full bloom. I was so happy!

TOKYO Solamachi
With a wide variety of over 300 shops gathered in this retail complex, you can feel the liveliness of Tokyo’s shitamachi downtown.
There are lots of restaurants to choose from, but during meal times, there are still long lines everywhere.
