Southwestern Kyoto Prefecture, centred on Nagaokakyo — once the site of the imperial capital — where old shrines, temples and historic sites remain. Visit Nagaoka Tenmangu, Komyo-ji and the Oyamazaki Villa Museum of Art, or enjoy the bamboo scenery of the Take no Michi path in Muko. It is also an easy trip from central Kyoto.
