A two day, one night trip departing from Shinjuku in Tokyo -- experience Mt. Fuji and the ninja culture!
Here we showcase a two day, one night trip that takes you on a fun and exciting journey through the Mt. Fuji area, located about two hours from Shinjuku, Tokyo. You’ll get up close and personal with all that Mt. Fuji and the ninja culture have to offer!
Day 1
8:30: Trip starts
Shinjuku Station
By train: Fuji Excursion on JR Chuo Line or Fujikyuko Line (2 hours); disembark at Fuji-Q Highland
Alternatively:
By bus: board a highway bus from Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal (100 minutes) and disembark at Fuji-Q Highland
10:30: Fuji-Q Highland
Your tour of the Mt. Fuji area begins at Fuji-Q Highland, Japan’s most famous amusement park. The grounds feature numerous exciting rides that will get your heart pumping and have posted many world records. The park is now well-known as a major destination for exciting rides that will get you screaming. In addition to the rides, there is an area devoted to popular characters, and various other facilities to enjoy. If you don’t like scary rides, rest assured that there is also an amusement park zone that’s great for the whole family. Make sure to buy a free pass, which gives you unlimited usage of the rides (some exclusions apply). Admission to the park itself is free, so you can even stop by to check it out before deciding to spend time there.
10:40: NARUTO x BORUTO Village Hidden in the Leaves (Fuji-Q Highland)
This area is dedicated to the popular anime series NARUTO and BORUTO NARUTO NEXT GENERATIONS. It was newly built just this summer in 2019. The zone contains many attractions and restaurants focused on the series. The buildings here even reproduce the look of the Village Hidden in the Leaves from the anime. Step inside and you are sure to experience the look and feel of the world the characters from NARUTO and BORUTO inhabit.
■Scientific Ninja Tool Dojo Hall, a 3D shooting game ride
Wearing 3D glasses, board this ride and grab the Ninja Gun as you take fire at the targets the characters toss in front of you. It’s a classic shooting game! After you play, your “ninja quotient” is calculated based on your score. Your group will be sure to get heated up as you try to beat each other! Think you can get the best rank of “Hokage”?
■Ninja Way Museum
This museum features rare materials from the creation of the anime, as well as key scenes. Not only are there printed materials, but also special footage you can watch in a 180 degree theater, as well as a room recreating the “Hokage Room,” and even life-sized NARUTO characters. This would be a great spot to take a commemorative photo.
■Game Arcade Ninjutsu Carnival
Games include frog flinging, shuriken tossing, and ball rolling. Pick one and try your hand at it. Succeed at beating the game and you’ll get a gift -- a unique character plush toy available only here! Carefully aim your shots and try to get that gift!
The themed area features various noted characters from the series throughout -- such as NARUTO riding a massive Gamakichi toad! This would make a great spot to take a group photo. There is also a photo studio where you can get your photograph superimposed over shots of the show and characters. You’ll also find a souvenir area with exclusive merchandise. There is lots to see and do!
12:00: Lunch at Ichiraku ramen (located within the NARUTO x BORUTO themed area)
After trying the attractions in the morning, it’s now time for lunch at Ichiraku ramen. This shop recreates the Ichiraku ramen noodle restaurant that NARUTO loves to visit. The hearty dishes feature an original recipe, and they serve desserts that are super photogenic. For every 1,000 JPY you spend, you’ll get a facial print sticker that will make you look just like the characters on the show -- delve even deeper into the NARUTO x BORUTO world!
13:00: Enjoy amazing rides in the attractions zone (Fuji-Q Highland)
Fill your belly with delicious ramen at Ichiraku before leaving the NARUTO and BORUTO area to head to the attractions zone.
Fujiyama is the signature roller coaster at Fuji-Q Highland -- it’s been ridden by 22 million people to date! The coaster climbs to as high as a 20+ story building, giving you a full view of Mt. Fuji. Savor this moment, because a steep drop lies ahead! The Takabisha, another roller coaster, has a plunging 121 degree drop at the steepest point, making it the world’s steepest! The plunging descent and seven twists make for an experience you won’t have on any other roller coaster.
If you don’t like roller coasters but want to get a view of Mt. Fuji, try Fuji Airways. Footage of the Mt. Fuji environs is displayed on a vast screen, with the latest in special effects like the wind, splashes on the lake surface, and the scent of the forest and flowers. This is a great way to tour Mt. Fuji and see sights you normally wouldn’t!
Another must-see at Fuji-Q Highland is the horror attractions. The Super Scary Labyrinth of Fear is a 900-meter long horror experience in a large, abandoned hospital. The ruins of this hospital are inhabited by ghosts. They are not only frightful to behold, but the hospital tests all five senses with sounds and even smells. Many people find it so realistic and terrifying that they have to give up and leave! Think you can withstand the attraction and make it to the end?
