Ueno Tosho-gu
Said to Bring Fortune to Competitions, and a Must-See Beautiful and Elegant Shrine.
A shrine dedicated to the first shogun of the Edo shogunate (1603-1867), Tokugawa Ieyasu.
The biggest highlight is the glistening golden main shrine building, which has been designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. The building is called the Golden Hall, and its outer wall is decorated with gorgeous sculptures.
The shrine is also home to several other Important Cultural Properties of Japan, including karamon and its 48 bronze lanterns.
The “Eiyo Gongensha” here is thought to be a god of entrance examinations, employment, and certain victory.
The “Peony Garden” on the shrine’s premises is home to a wide variety of peonies, and during both spring and winter they bloom beautifully.

This is one of the most beautiful shrines I've seen in Japan. It's located in Ueno Park, where there are plenty of other things to check out as well. Many people come here to pay their respects or pray.
