Poppies in the Sky
Bright red poppies and the plateau that matches the bright blue sky.
About 12 million poppies bloom in the sky on a 4 hectare plateau at an altitude of 500 meters. The ideal time to see them is from late May to early June. The contrast between the blue of the sky and the red of the poppies is spectacular. The poppies are of the Shirley poppy variety, a member of the poppy family, and are also known as "hinageshi" (Japanese name) and "Gubijinso" (nickname). The poppies come in a variety of colors, mainly red, but also pink and white. The flower has the words "anticipation of love" and "gratitude".
The poppies are planted on a slope, so even if there are a lot of people, you can take pictures from an angle that doesn't include people. It’s sure to be photogenic on social media!
From mid-May to early June, the "Heavenly Poppy" event is held, where you can enjoy Chichibu's specialty dishes such as miso potatoes.
Pets are allowed. This is a spot where you can relax and enjoy the scenery.
