Kanezaki Sasakama-kan, adjacent to the factory, is an amusement facility with a sales booth and a restaurant.

The experience class of Sasa Kamaboko and Age Kamaboko (fried fish cake) are popular (a reservation required). The first process of making Kamaboko is kneading minced fish. The staff carefully teach how to make fish cake, so even children can enjoy the work (Elementary schoolers and above can participate). The tour of the factory is held after learning about the secret of the main materials and manufacturing process. At Pukkura-yaki Corner, you can bake raw Sasa Kamaboko as much as you like and eat freshly baked one.

Tanabata museum adjoined to the facility displays photographic archives and decorations of Sendai’s common feature in summer, Sendai Tanabata Festival. In the museum, the current mainstream decoration of Tanabata Festival as well as the replicated decorations used during the feudal period and the Meiji era are exhibited. The attractiveness of Tanabata Festival is shown all- around season whenever you visit Sendai.

Sasa (bamboo leaf) Kamaboko (fish cake) is a representative food of Sendai. The name came from the shape which is similar to bamboo leaf. In early times, the name was not unified and many names such as Konoha (tree leaf) Kamaboko and Tenohira (palm) Kamaboko appeared, but bamboo leaves and sparrows are drawn in the emblem of the Date family (the prestigious family in Sendai) so bamboo leaf (Sasa) was taken to the name and spread around Japan.
