Totsukawa Village, known for its rhododendrons, has the 21-st Century Forest, Kii Peninsula Forest Botanical Park. In 2020, a unique outdoor spot was opened there.
4-12m above ground, hanging bridges, tree houses, hammock-kind of nets are set up, allowing visitors to immerse in the forest. Adults and children can drink coffee, jump on them, lie down and read, or do whatever they wish.
Kuuchuu no Mura was produced by a French residing in Totsukawa Village, Jolan Ferreri, who has been working in the village office as a member of the village-reviving corp since 2016. While he was involved in forestry, he came up with the idea of turning a forest into a recreation spot. France has many such rec places in the forest. Some specialized engineers were invited from France for the construction here.
The admission includes organic drinks and there is no time limit. You can bring your own lunch. Forget time and stretch out.
