Last update :

This facility celebrates the traditional crafts of Naha, which originated in the Ryukyu Kingdom era and have been passed down to the present day. The crafts featured include Tsuboya pottery, Ryukyu Bingata (dyed fabric), Shuri weaving, Ryukyu lacquerware, and Ryukyu glass. In the permanent exhibition room, notable works by Living National Treasures and historical pieces are displayed for each of the five crafts, with explanatory monitors detailing the production processes.

The hands-on experience courses, where visitors can create traditional Naha crafts themselves, are highly popular. These include "Ryukyu Glass Blowing Experience" (making a glass or a single-flower vase) at the renowned Okuhara Glass Factory with a 70-year history, "Ryukyu Bingata Experience" in traditional Okinawan dyeing, and " Tsuikin Experience" to learn the unique Ryukyu lacquerware technique used since the Ryukyu Kingdom era. Experiences are available for all five traditional crafts.

Creating your own unique traditional craft piece makes for a perfect souvenir.
