KAI Kirishima

This onsen ryokan is located halfway up Mt. Takachihonomine on the border of Kagoshima and Miyazaki Prefectures. All rooms have a view overlooking Sakurajima and the Kirishima Plateau, allowing guests to experience the magnificence of nature.

The bathing hut is located at the end of the slope car ride from the guest room building. The open-air baths are surrounded by a vast field of soot, and the open-air baths, with nothing in front of them to block the view, offer a sense of openness. In the relaxing indoor baths with a purely Japanese atmosphere, visitors can fully enjoy the famous hot spring water that flows from the source in two bathtubs of different temperatures, "hot water" and "lukewarm water".

After being healed by the hot springs, enjoy our signature kaiseki cuisine. The menu incorporates a variety of rich ingredients, including Kagoshima's famous Kurobuta pork, a specialty of Kagoshima Prefecture, all of which are so delicious you will want to appreciate the blessings of the season. Also, look out for creative recipes such as appetizers arranged with "akumaki," a local snack. There are many ways to enjoy your stay, such as daily shows of lively performances in which staff members dress up as gods and express the legends of the local area.
