Kirishima Hotel
Known for its grand bath, featuring free-flowing water from the source in four different mineral compositions.
Kirishima Hotel is a historic hot spring inn in Kirishima Onsen with a history spanning over 160 years. Blessed with the abundant waters of Iodani Onsen, it is also known as a destination visited by Ryoma Sakamoto and his wife Oryo on their honeymoon. Since its founding, this long-established inn has welcomed many visitors seeking therapeutic hot spring stays and is one of Kirishima's leading accommodations.
Its signature attraction is the impressively vast Iodani Garden Grand Bath. It offers four different types of hot spring water drawn from 14 sources: sulfur, alum, saline, and iron-rich springs. Around 14 million liters of water flow directly from the sources each day, creating a truly impressive hot spring experience. The expansive space contains numerous baths, including a standing bath about 25 meters deep and cascading water baths, allowing guests to experience a variety of hot springs.
The 95 guest rooms are spread across three wings: Takachiho, East, and West. A range of room types is available, including Japanese-style, Western-style, and Japanese-Western rooms. Choose one to suit your group size and travel plans.
Dinner features a traditional multi-course meal incorporating Kagoshima specialties such as Berkshire pork, Japanese Black beef, and sake-zushi, offering a full taste of the region's cuisine. The hotel also features the Century Cedar Garden, home to around 30,000 cedar trees, and a historical exhibit area where guests can learn about Kirishima's nature and culture.
