Okashigoten “Ganso Beni-imo Tart”

This tart pastry has an impressive visual appeal with its purple red sweet potato paste. The tart dough is squeezed with paste made from 100% Okinawan red potatoes purchased from more than 140 contract farmers. The moist texture of the tart and the rich sweetness of the red potatoes make it an exquisite product. It is made without preservatives or coloring agents to preserve the original color and flavor of the red potatoes.

It was born in 1986. As part of the efforts to revitalize the village of Yomitan, the company began making sweets using the local specialty, beni imo (red potatoes). It has now become a standard Okinawa souvenir. The tart dough is made in the shape of a red potato, and the wavy paste is made to resemble a red potato leaf waving in the wind. 3-piece, 6-piece, 10-piece, and 15-piece packages are available for a wide variety of occasions, including personal and business use. They are also sold in bulk at "Okashigoten" stores.

Its sister product, "Imoimo Tart", has also been a popular item since its launch in 2016. Made from Yomitan Village's "Yomitan beni-imo" paste and red sweet potato paste, it has a beautiful contrast of orange and purple.
