Moerenuma Park, an art park, was created as part of the Circular Greenbelt Concept, which aims to surround Sapporo's urban area with a belt of parks and green spaces. Sculptor Isamu Noguchi designed the entire park as a sculpture artwork, and visitors can see the park's various faces as the seasons change.

The "Glass Pyramid," a glass structure with a triangular surface, a square pyramid, and a cube, is one of Moerenuma Park's symbolic structures. And the reflection changes with the hour, displaying various expressions such as a blue sky during the day and a sunset at night. Visitors can enjoy the scenery throughout the day, which may change to a gradation of colors depending on the time of day.

Another highlight is a sculpture known as "Mt. Moere," which is 52 meters tall and can be reached on foot. There are straight and curved routes, and each offers a unique view of Mt. Moere. From the summit, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Moerenuma Park.

Highlights

  • It's the “Sculpture of the Earth”, which took 23 years to transform from a waste disposal site.
  • The symbol of the park is the “Glass Pyramid.”
  • One of the largest sculptures in the park is "Mt. Moere”.
