Completed in 1924 as an exclusive theater for the glamorous all-female Takarazuka Revue. It was renovated in 1993 to celebrate its 80th anniversary and continues to offer performances throughout the year by the five troupes: Flower, Moon, Snow, Star, and Cosmos. Most of the performances consist of a play and a show, with a wide range of productions including original works by the exclusive directors, original works based on manga, movies, literature, and foreign musicals, and revivals of popular plays.
The auditorium, which seats a total of 2,619, is a two-tiered structure with staggered seating, making it easy to see the stage from any seat. Moreover, the apron stage (silver bridge) between the stage and the audience is gently curved to make it easier to see the performers' performances on the silver bridge from the second floor seats. A computerized lighting system capable of storing up to 1,000 scenes has been installed to create a powerful stage with a live orchestra.
