Route No. 1 of Mt. Takao is the most popular among climbers due to its fully paved path, allowing even beginners to ascend with ease. Located at the intersection of the "Male Slope" and the "Female Slope" is "Gongen Chaya", a bustling shop situated just 15 minutes by foot from the Takaosan cable car station—making it the perfect rest stop.

The shop's specialty is sesame dango, grilled over charcoal, sending a fragrant aroma wafting to the streets. Each dango stick, incorporating about 2,300 sesame seeds, is available in two varieties: gold sesame and black sesame. Customers can choose from three types of sauces made with Tokyo's soy sauce: mitarashi, a special soy sauce glaze, and walnut miso (the latter two being limited in quantity). Always served fresh off the grill, these dango, along with the self-service tea, make the ideal refreshment. True to its name "Gomadokoro" (Sesame Place), the shop offers other sesame-rich dishes, including miso dengaku sprinkled with generous amounts of sesame, and sweet sake with black sesame. Soft serve ice cream made with Tokyo's milk is also a hit.

They also boast popular, flavorful ramen dishes such as "Natural Yam Ramen", "Hachioji Ramen" that uses chopped onions instead of leek, and the limited-quantity "Tengu Ramen" packed with ten different ingredients.
