Kishamichi Promenade

In spring, the cherry blossoms come into full bloom! A retro walking path in Yokohama that connects the port and history.

This Approx. 500 m-long promenade was created by reusing part of a former railway line that opened in 1911. It is also known as a shortcut from nearby Sakuragicho Station to the sightseeing spots scattered along Yokohama Port’s waterfront, and many people pass through here regardless of the day or time.

The grand view of the sea and the urban skyline of high-rise buildings spreading across the surrounding Minato Mirai area is a setting unique to Yokohama, and from around late March to early April each year, the Somei Yoshino cherry trees planted along the promenade come into full bloom!

Incidentally, the bridges crossing the water are mainly divided into three types. Bridges No. 1 and No. 2 are truss bridges made in 1907, and Bridge No. 3 is also a historic structure erected in the early 1900s, giving it a presence that represents the origin of Yokohama as a “trade-based nation” and serves as one of its symbols.

You can sense the past from the aged designs of these bridges, as well as the rails and sleepers that remain throughout, and they are also highly valuable as industrial heritage.
