One of the largest limestone caves in Gifu Prefecture, this cave is surrounded by mountain nature, with 700 m of its total Approx. 2 km length open to the public. Located in the mountains at an elevation of Approx. 300 m, the cave entrance is reached by a rare wooden cable car, unusual even in Japan.

As soon as you enter the cave, you are enveloped in cool air with an average temperature of 12–14°C, and a silence like another world spreads before you. At the deepest point is one of Japan’s largest underground waterfalls, with a drop of Approx. 30 m, and the abundant flow of water represented by this waterfall means the stalactites are still continuing to grow little by little even now. That is also why many of the stalactites are milky white, while others are tinged red with iron and other minerals, or so clear they seem to let light pass through, allowing you to enjoy up close the diverse sculptural beauty created by nature.

The grounds include a restaurant and a gift shop, as well as a fishing pond. A popular experience is grilling the rainbow trout you catch over charcoal right on the spot. Cool even in summer, it is an ideal place for sightseeing while escaping the heat.
