“Shimanto no Yado” is a resort hotel near the mouth of the Shimanto River in Kochi Prefecture. Built around the concept of “Return to nature, return to yourself,” it features spaces richly designed with natural materials such as Tosa plaster, cedar, and stone. Care for the environment can be seen in every detail of the building, which blends beautifully into the surrounding greenery.

There are 30 guest rooms in total, including Japanese-style rooms and Western-style rooms with lofts. Each offers a relaxing space that makes the most of natural materials. The property also has the hot spring facility “Shimanto Iyashi no Yu.” It features a wide variety of baths, including an open-air seawater bath made by heating mineral-rich seawater, as well as herbal baths and a sauna. Everything is in place to help you unwind after your trip. Dinner highlights fresh seafood from the Pacific Ocean and ingredients from the Shimanto River. Local specialties such as Nakamura-style salted seared bonito and ceramic plate-grilled Shimanto beef let you fully enjoy the flavors of the area.

Within walking distance of the inn is an observation deck overlooking the Pacific Ocean. It is also about 30 minutes by car to the famous Sada Chinka Bridge, making this a convenient base for sightseeing in Shimanto as well.
