Ryokan Genbei

The warmth of tradition and history, wrapped in the scent of timeworn wood.

Supervised by :  Ryokan Genbei

This historic, all-wood, single-story ryokan is filled with the warmth and gentle scent of wood wherever you go. With few steps throughout, its single-story design offers a sense of comfort, almost like returning to a traditional Japanese home.

The hot spring water flows directly from the source, with an open-air bath full of spaciousness, a large public bath where you can relax your body at ease, and private baths where you can enjoy personal time, and all of them can be used anytime without worrying about the time. The iron-rich spring quality is known for making the skin smoother and silkier the longer you soak in the bath.

Guest rooms, with views of lush natural greenery beyond the windows, are mainly spacious Japanese-style rooms. For guests seeking a special stay, the one-group-per-day guest room “Sanada no Ma Obai Tori,” decorated with paintings depicting Sanada history and armor, is also available. The experience of trying on a jinbaori battle surcoat and helmet is also available to non-staying guests.

*As of May 2026, Sanada no Ma is closed for reservations due to renovation work. The experience of trying on a jinbaori battle surcoat and helmet is available.

The cuisine features an array of carefully prepared creative dishes, generously using the rich bounty of the land at the foot of Mount Zao and fresh seafood from Sendai Bay. Each dish highlights seasonal ingredients and offers a luxurious taste found only here, reflecting the chef’s attention to detail.

Enjoy a stay where nature, hot springs, spaces, and cuisine all come together, and treat yourself to refined relaxation that lets you forget everyday life.
