From the Mount Kamafuse Observation Deck at an elevation of 785 m, visitors can take in a 360-degree panorama encompassing Mutsu Bay, the Hakkoda Mountains, Shiriyazaki Lighthouse, and even Hokkaido when the weather is clear. The nighttime lights of central Mutsu resemble a butterfly with outstretched wings, earning the view the nickname “Swallowtail Butterfly of Light.” It has also been recognized as Japan's first World Night View Heritage site.
In fall, the entire mountain is blanketed in vivid foliage, creating a spectacular view from the observation deck. A walking trail also leads to the summit, offering an up-close experience of nature throughout the seasons. With panoramic views of the mountains of Shimokita, including Mount Osore, the area attracts many visitors for scenic drives, hiking, and photography from around mid- to late October.
