Hama-Rikyu Gardens is located beside Tokyo Bay, only about a 10-minute walk from Hamamatsucho Station. This imperial garden, which dates back to the Edo period, features Tokyo's only seawater pond, Shioiri Pond, whose appearance changes with the tides. Surrounded by old pine trees, the garden has elegant scenery, and the Nakajima-no-Ochaya teahouse in the middle of the pond is an excellent place to enjoy matcha and wagashi. Walking through the garden, you can experience the tranquil charm of a traditional Japanese garden while also taking in a distinctive urban landscape where modern high-rises rise in the distance.

The moment you walk in, it's so peaceful. It's a huge contrast to the busy Tokyo city outside. The mix of tall buildings and the traditional Japanese garden is really unique.

The elegance of a Japanese garden and the Zen atmosphere are wonderful here. The pond in the garden uses seawater from the tides, which is really unique. Even though it's surrounded by skyscrapers, it's a peaceful hideaway—definitely worth a visit.

One of Tokyo's four famous gardens. The trees are beautifully trimmed, and it used to be Tokugawa Ieyasu's villa. It's a great place to relax.

A royal-style Japanese garden. You can also catch a boat from here to Asakusa.
