All Reviews of Isetan Shinjuku

When traveling in Japan, of course you can't miss Isetan! As soon as you walk in, you can feel the upscale, stylish shopping atmosphere. It has everything from clothing and cosmetics to household goods and food, with such a wide variety of products that it's really easy to accidentally buy too much.

On this visit to Isetan, I especially enjoyed taking my time choosing what I needed and checking out local Japanese brands and specialty products. The basement food hall in particular was so much fun to browse that I didn't want to leave!

The building really has that Showa-era feel. The decorative details are incredibly refined, and you can sense the history in everything from the window frames to the reliefs on the exterior.

It doesn’t feel like an ordinary department store at all.

This is a huge department store—you could spend all day here and still not see everything. The floors are clearly organized, and there’s a separate building just for men’s items. The selection of suits is amazing.

You can really feel the attention to detail in service that you’d expect from a classic Japanese department store here.

Besides the department store goods, the exterior is also really unique!

It's a mid-to-high-end department store, but I wasn't too happy with the staff's attitude.

The night lights at this Shinjuku department store are gorgeous... I love strolling through department stores, and the staff here are super friendly. So many Japanese-made products—I wish I could take them all home!

Isetan is also known as the Fashion Museum and is said to have the highest sales of any department store in the world. If you're in Tokyo, this is definitely a shopping spot you shouldn't miss.
