Once you pass through the iconic green entrance sign, you'll find narrow alleys packed with all kinds of izakayas. The air is filled with the rich aroma of charcoal-grilled skewers and cheerful laughter, creating a lively, down-to-earth atmosphere.

It retains the nostalgic feel of the Showa era and becomes even more beautiful at night. Office workers getting off work and visitors from around the world crowd into the cozy little establishments, drinking beer and enjoying piping-hot skewers and grilled offal. If you want to experience Shinjuku's most authentic nightlife and warm local hospitality, this is the place!

The whole alley has such a strong Showa-era vibe. It’s small, but really lively—like stepping into a scene from an old Japanese movie.

It really has that old-school Showa-era Japan vibe. Come at night for yakitori and beer—totally feels like a classic izakaya.

The eateries here are really tiny. A lot of them only have counter seats, so you’re packed in shoulder to shoulder and still have to pay a cover charge. It’s really easy to end up spending quite a bit, and it doesn’t feel very good value for what you get.

There are a lot of tourists, but it still keeps that old Tokyo vibe.

It's a small space and gets really crowded, but that lively, noisy atmosphere is what makes it so much fun!

If you want to experience real downtown vibes, you have to visit Omoide Yokocho at least once!

I thought it was just about the vibe, but the food was actually really good! About two-thirds of the people here were foreigners 🤭

But it was super crowded, so the staff looked like they were having a tough time...
