A peaceful and charming old street, lined with century-old houses. No wonder it's called the 'Little Kyoto.'

If you're visiting Takayama, you definitely have to walk through this old street. There are lots of local souvenirs and small crafts. If you love Japanese vibes, it's worth a stroll.

Even though it's pretty crowded, this is a great place to relax.

This is a traditional old street from the Edo period, perfectly preserved since it wasn't affected by war. There are lots of local snacks and every shop has its own unique charm.

The Hida beef sushi is delicious, and the gohei-mochi and sticky rice dumplings are full of local flavor too.

I recommend going before noon so you can catch the Miyagawa Morning Market with local residents selling their goods.

The old streets and alleys are still there, but most of the houses have been turned into shops or places to eat. It's a bit of a shame that the original atmosphere is gone.

The townscape is beautiful, especially when it snows!

This place has some of the best-preserved Edo period architecture in Japan.
