There are lots of restaurants and snack shops along the old street, offering all kinds of tasty food. The Hida beef is especially tender and flavorful—definitely a must-try!

I'm really drawn to these old streets full of Japanese charm. Even if you don't buy anything, just walking around is a lot of fun!

This old street isn't very wide, but you'll find both international and Japanese tourists, as well as student groups. There are breweries, dessert shops, and charming old-style cafes. The line for Hida beef sushi was so long that I didn't have time to try it.

If you come early in the morning, there are fewer people. You can also check out the morning market nearby.

Hida Takayama sells Kihachiro's Hida beef buns—definitely recommend grabbing one as a snack while you're here!
