I also highly recommend exploring Togoshi Ginza Shopping Street in Tokyo. The whole street has a strong local, everyday feel. It isn't as rushed as a tourist attraction, so you can take your time walking around and experience the atmosphere of daily life for Tokyo residents.

There are plenty of good restaurants, dessert shops, general stores, and other unique businesses along the way. Whenever you see something you like, you can stop to browse or buy a little something to eat. The whole pace is very relaxed. I prefer this kind of lively neighborhood shopping street to a large shopping mall.

Togoshi Ginza Shopping Street is about 1.3 kilometers long and lined with many prepared-food shops, dessert shops, izakayas, and stores selling everyday goods. It isn't as commercialized as a tourist area, so you can see many local residents doing their everyday shopping. There are plenty of casual food options, including fried foods, croquettes, and oden. The shopping street has a lively and friendly atmosphere. It's very relaxing to buy a few snacks you like and enjoy them as you stroll around.

I ended up stopping by here while out for a walk in Yanaka, and the shopping street has an old Tokyo feel. There are lots of unique little shops and snacks along the way, and it’s a really pleasant place to stroll.

Before I knew it, I had been wandering around for quite a while.

When you come here, you have to try walking around with a croquette or soft serve in hand. It's so much fun to snack as you stroll and enjoy the atmosphere of the old downtown area! 👍

Unlike the usual busy Japanese shopping streets, this place is great if you want to get a feel for how locals live day to day.

With over 400 little shops, there are tons of tasty snacks to try. Getting there is pretty convenient, too.

It's worth spending a bit more time here. Some of the old shops sell things you hardly see anymore.

Most of the people walking here are locals. The shopping street is old but really long, with lots of stores to check out. Since there aren't many foreign visitors, some shops don't offer tax-free services.

While walking through the shopping street, I caught a familiar smell (Longhui pan-fried buns). They're just like the ones we have back home—super juicy, freshly made, and delicious 😋. Totally holds its own!
