Tucked away in the old streets, Starbucks Coffee Kawagoe Bell Street Store completely overturns the usual modern image of a chain coffee shop. The entire building blends perfectly with the Edo-period kurazukuri townhouse style, with dark wooden roof tiles and naturally draped white Japanese noren curtains. Even the sign has been specially weathered, understated yet full of character.
With coffee in hand, I walked through the corridor and found a lush little Japanese garden hidden in the back. The calm of the traditional old house mingles with the aroma of coffee. During an afternoon stroll through the historic streets, sitting here makes it especially easy to enjoy the comfort of time slowing down.

This unique Starbucks is near the Toki no Kane bell tower and is a popular photo spot you definitely shouldn't miss when visiting Kawagoe.
It perfectly blends traditional Edo-period warehouse architecture with the historic streetscape through its black-tiled roof, white walls, and wooden exterior. If you want to avoid the daytime crowds, I personally recommend going in the early evening. Not only is the atmosphere quieter, but you can also sit down and take your time enjoying your coffee. Don't miss the elegant courtyard behind the building, which has a distinctly Japanese Zen feel. It's a beautiful Starbucks with lots of local character, where you'll want to sit quietly and stay awhile.

The Starbucks in Kawagoe is designed in the style of a traditional Japanese kura-style townhouse, blending historic architecture with modern design beautifully. It has a charming old-town atmosphere.
The interior is comfortable and elegant, and enjoying coffee next to the garden feels especially relaxing. It’s one of Kawagoe’s popular photo spots.
