When visiting Kawagoe in winter, the chilly weather always makes you crave sweets even more. That's when you definitely shouldn't miss the nostalgic Kashiya Yokocho.

I had always seen the amazing craft of handmade candy making on Japanese TV shows, but this time I got to watch the candy maker at Tamariki Seika skillfully pull candy into all kinds of colorful shapes with my own eyes. At that moment, I felt like a child again and was completely mesmerized. This short cobblestone alley is lined with all kinds of traditional Japanese candy shops, making it a treasure-hunting paradise for anyone with a sweet tooth. A light, sweet aroma drifts through the air, and as you stroll along, you can feel the warmth and simplicity of Showa-era nostalgia. It's a charming little alley that I personally love very much.

The vibe here feels just like walking through a small alley from Japan's Showa era—so much character! There aren't a ton of shops, but each one is pretty unique.
