Shizukuishi felt very open and quiet to me, and the views from the mountain were especially beautiful. When I got tired from skiing, stopping beside the trail to look at Mt. Iwate and the snowy scenery in the distance was a pleasure in itself. It really had that natural atmosphere of a ski resort in Tohoku.

The snow-covered ski resort feels like a natural photo studio. Whether you're standing in the snow or posing with falling snow in the background, you can capture that perfect winter vibe.

The snow quality was excellent, and the runs were groomed really smooth. It made for a great ride.

On our second day after arriving in Japan, everyone was still in full-on excitement mode, and we had plenty of energy. We couldn’t wait to head up to Shizukuishi Ski Resort first thing in the morning.

The snow conditions were great, and the runs were super smooth. No matter how much we skied, we didn’t feel tired at all. From the very first lift ride, we just couldn’t stop.

Looking out over that huge snowy landscape, it really made me feel like skiing in Japan in the winter is such an amazing thing.

Shizukuishi Ski Resort has a lot of variety in its runs, so you’re not stuck with the same slope the whole time. There are gentle trails as well as some steeper routes, so whether you’re a beginner or have skied a few times, you can find a run that suits you.

The runs are planned out pretty well. Beginners to intermediate skiers can have a lot of fun without feeling intimidated the moment they get up there.

The lift ride is smooth too. Best part: on a clear day you can see Mt. Iwate. Skiing with that view is a huge plus—you’ll keep wanting to stop and take photos.

It feels really comfortable here—not too noisy or overly commercialized. More of a laid-back vibe.

The runs are wide and the views are great, so skiing doesn’t feel stressful. Beginners won’t get too intimidated, and experienced skiers can just cruise and enjoy the scenery.

On a clear day, the view from up top is seriously beautiful. Being able to take in the scenery while you ski is a big plus.

It’s not insanely crowded either. The lift lines are usually reasonable—nothing that wears you out.

And the Shizukuishi Prince Hotel next door is super convenient. After skiing, heading straight back to rest and soak in the onsen feels amazing.
