About Me

After living away from Japan for a while, I came to appreciate what the country has to offer. I now travel throughout Japan in search of traditional Japanese culture and beautiful seasonal scenery. My hope is that readers will visit the places featured in my articles for themselves.

The top places I recommend in Japan and why

If you are interested in present-day Japan, visit the capital, Tokyo. If you are interested in Japanese history and culture, visit Kyoto.

My favorite memory from traveling in Japan

For beautiful scenery, my top choices are Furano, Hokkaido—with sights such as the lavender fields at Farm Tomita—and Biei, home to the Patchwork Road, Panorama Road, and Shirogane Blue Pond.

An experience I recommend when visiting Japan

Wagashi, traditional Japanese sweets, are a treat for the eyes as well as the palate, so be sure to try some when you visit Japan.
