Oigawa Railway
Steam locomotives (SLs) are primarily used for towing train cars. On the Oigawa Railway Ikawa Line, Japan’s one and only Abt train can still be found pulling trains up and down the area’s steep slopes. It is very popular not only among railroad fans but also among women and children.
A lot of Japanese railway fans come here to check it out.
Yokohama Zoological Gardens Zoorasia
Focusing on a theme of “coexistence of life and harmony with nature,” this zoo displays, raises, and breeds wild animals from around the world. The exhibits are divided into zones based on climate and region, including the “Asian Tropical Forest,” “Japanese Countryside,” and “African Savanna” zones, so it feels like you’re traveling the world as you look through the exhibits.
The zoo is huge—sometimes it's so big you can't even spot the animals unless you really look for them.
Osanbashi Yokohama International Passenger Terminal
This terminal is a port of call for luxury cruise ships from all over the world. The first floor is a parking lot, the Immigration Lobby and Osanbashi Hall are on the 2nd floor, and the Rooftop features an event area and a deck for welcomes and farewells.
This cruise terminal has a really cool design, and you can get up close to see the big ships docked there.
Sankeien Garden
Sankeien is a Japanese Garden built by Hara Sankei, an entrepreneur who was also a man of culture. Extending over an expanse of 175,000 square meters, many important cultural assets were relocated here from Kyoto and Kamakura. They have been masterfully arranged throughout the garden.
The entrance fee is JPY 700. If you're not coming for the cherry blossoms or autumn leaves, you might want to think twice.
Makuhari Messe
Makuhari Messe first opened in 1989, and it is an iconic Japanese convention center. The entire site is comprised of 3 facilities: Japan’s largest “International Exhibition Hall,” the “International Conference Hall” with 22 meeting rooms, and the “Makuhari Event Hall” that can accommodate up to 9,000 people.
When it's crowded, the lines for the restrooms are super long, and the air conditioning doesn't work well, so it gets really stuffy and hot.
