At teamLab Planets TOKYO DMM.com, step into the sheer awe of art that blurs the line between observer and the art itself. The museum saw a major renovation in January 2025, expanding event space by about 1.5 times and adding an outdoor area.
It's funny—this is Tokyo, Japan, but almost everyone visiting seems to be from outside Japan! 🤣
Kintsuba Nakata Ya, Higashiyama-chayagai Shop, Wami
This sweet shop is produced by a long-established Japanese confectioner that has been in business for more than 80 years and is so well-known to locals that it is known as 'Nakadaya for its kintsuba'. Here, visitors can taste sweets made from high-quality Noto Dainagon azuki beans (red beans) from Oku-Noto, which are known as 'red jewels'.
There are seats on the second floor where you can sit, relax, enjoy some matcha and red bean sweets, and look out over the Higashiyama Chaya District.
Shinsaibashi-suji Shopping Street
The shopping street stretches about 580m from the south side of Nagahori-dori in the center of Osaka City to Soemon-cho-dori. Various shops, including cosmetics shops, apparel stores, drugstores, accessory shops, 100 yen shops, and musical instrument stores, line up on both sides of the street. With the long-established department store Daimaru Shinsaibashi store and large stores of famous apparel brands, it is a shopping area that attracts many customers every day, showcasing the best of Osaka's liveliness.
No matter if it's a weekday or weekend, day or night, this place is always packed. It's super lively.
Hida Kotte-ushi
Located in the historical district of Hida Takayama, the Kotte-ushi specializes in nigiri-sushi topped with Hida beef for takeout only. Eating Hida beef at a reasonable price while strolling about the traditional town of Hida Takayama has become a very popular activity, resulting in long lines of visitors wishing to try this gourmet street food.
This is one of the must-try foods when you visit Takayama Old Town.
Hida Takayama Old Townscape
Hida Takayama Old Townscape is said to be a town where the original landscape of Japan remains, as the streets from the Edo period still remain, and the charming town houses and noren (curtains) of old stores continue to be seen.
If you come early in the morning, there are fewer people. You can also check out the morning market nearby.
Tokyo Disneyland
Known and loved as the “kingdom of dreams and magic”, this full-scale themepark is just a 15 min. train ride from Tokyo Station.
I really admire the staff's service attitude here. It's totally different from other Disney parks I've visited in Asia.
Hokuseiyama Lavender Garden
Hokuseiyama, a symbol of Nakafurano town that attracts popularity as a ski resort in winter, has a municipal lavender field on its hillside, where beautiful flowers can be enjoyed in summer.
On the way back after visiting Farm Tomita, you'll pass by Hokuseiyama. The hilly landscape is a bit different from Farm Tomita, but the flowers are mostly similar. The main reason to come is for the scenery.
Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine
Dazaifu Tenmangu is the head shrine of 10,000 different shrines across Japan dedicated to the spirit of Sugawara Michizane. Sugawara was an acclaimed scholar who was deemed innocent posthumously after being exiled to Dazaifu by Kyoto’s Imperial Court. The main hall was built over his grave and has been preserved as a sacred site of Tenjin worship for over 1100 years.
Walking across the bridge represents the past, present, and future. Really makes you think!
Kirishima Jingu Shrine
Kirishima-Jingu is a shrine that represents southern Kyushu. Founded in the 6th century, it boasts a deep and ancient history. Kirishima-Jingu was transferred to its present location over 500 years ago, after repeatedly burning down and being rebuilt due to Mt. Kirishima’s eruptions. This shrine worships Ninigi-no-Mikoto of Japan’s founding myth.
A solemn and peaceful shrine. The autumn leaves make it even more beautiful.
FUFU Nara
Located on the edge of Nara Park, the FUFU Nara is a perfect base to travel around Nara. Kengo Kuma, one of the top Japanese architects, has designed this impressive building.The divine air of Nara Park swings trees outside of the room window. It facilitates an open-air bath in each guest room to relax and unwind.
