You have to go early in the morning because everything wraps up by noon. Most of the stalls sell local produce from the Takayama area, but there are also souvenir shops geared toward tourists. It's not far from the old town, either.

There are lots of traditional Japanese houses here, and many have historical significance. Plus, admission is free everywhere! Having Chinese-speaking guides is a huge plus!
