Kumano Kodo Iseji Magose Pass
Since the middle of the Heian period (794-1185), the Kumano Sanzan / Three Grand Shrines of Kumano (Kumano Hongu Taisha, Kumano Hayatama Taisha, and Kumano Nachi Taisha) in the southern Kii Peninsula has been widely worshiped, and many people used the "Kumano Kodo" as a pilgrimage route to these shrines.
The most beautiful stone-paved path and cypress forest. It's an easy hike and also the most popular trail on the Iseji route! ❤️
Ebisu Yokocho
A bar district with 20 restaurants. The former "Yamashita Shopping Center" was a public market, and the sign at the entrance is reminiscent of the Showa period. The stores are small, ranging in size from 10-16m2, and are lined up in a tight row in the alley. This appearance of the market is also nostalgic for the older generation and fresh for the younger generation.
This area has such romantic and beautiful streets, with a classy vibe. There’s delicious food all along the way! 🙏👍
Korankei
Korankei is a valley on the Tomoe River, known as one of the premier spots for autumn foliage in Japan. It is said to have originated when the chief priest of Kojakuji Temple planted trees in 1634. Currently, about 4,000 trees turn red and yellow in the fall, presenting a breathtaking view.
Every November, lots of locals and tourists come here to see the autumn leaves. You can also join the annual Korankei Maple Festival. So beautiful! ❤️
Omogo Gorge
The Omogo Gorge, one of the largest canyons in Shikoku, spreads out at the southern foot of Mount Ishizuchi. It is located in the headwaters of the Niyodo River, which has been awarded the best water quality in Japan, and its crystal clear river is as beautiful as the Niyodo River. Walking courses have been established along the valley, so you can take a stroll while enjoying the emerald green stream and dynamic strange rocks.
A famous sightseeing spot known far and wide. The scenery changes with each season, bringing endless enjoyment to visitors. 🙏
Kamishima
This island sits just 14km northeast from Toba Port and 3.5km west of Cape Irago in Aichi Prefecture. While only 3.9km in circumference, this small island is believed to be true to its named and ruled by the “kami” or gods. This island is also known as the film location of “The Sound of Waves” and adaption of the love story written by Yukio Mishima.
Kozushima has beaches and rocky trails, but the best part is that it's the perfect spot for snorkeling. It's a great island for travelers to explore together! 🏝️
Nakanoshima Kosetsu Museum of Art
The Nakanoshima Kosetsu Museum of Art Foundation, located in Higashinada Ward, Kobe, is home to the collection of Murayama Ryohei, known as the founder of one of Japan's representative media organizations, the "Asahi Shimbun Company." This establishment is the second exhibition facility of the museum and opened its doors in March 2018.
You can see Buddhist art, calligraphy, modern paintings, and some important cultural properties and artworks here. Definitely worth a short trip.
Odawara Art Foundation Enoura Observatory
Although an observatory, weather is not measured here. This is a place where art and culture is spread through celebrating scape unifying the ocean, the mountains, the skies and nature. The name observatory comes from the idea that by going back to the beginning of humankind and art, “when our ancestors grew conscious and found their existence by measuring their relationship with the skies”.
We got to experience the most beautiful scenery created by architect Hiroshi Sugimoto here... Absolutely stunning!
Mekari Park
On the northern Kyushu side of the Kanmon Strait, there is a 37-hectare park in the Seto Inland National Park overlooking the main island. The whole area around Mt. Kojo, including Moji Castle ruins, is made into a park that stretches to the waterfront.
This park is famous for birdwatching and flower viewing. There's also a big observation deck, and you can see the Kanmon Strait and the Kanmon Bridge, which is only 700 meters from Honshu. 👍
Akita Culture and Industry Facility, Matsushita
The remains of "Kappo Matsushita," a Japanese cuisine restaurant established in the Taisho Era (1912-1926), still remain in Senshu Park. Matsushita's beautiful wooden Japanese-style architecture was used as a base for introducing Akita culture, which is in decline.
At the Akita Culture and Industry Facility Matsushita, you can even watch performances by Akita maiko in the grand banquet hall. It's really great!
Masuda Nakananokamachi-dori
Masuda, which prospered as one of the most successful business towns in Akita, still has Uchigura, a unique architectural style in the snowy region. Nakananokamachi Street is lined with businessmen’s homes built from Meiji to Showa Periods, leaving the prosperous heritage of Masuda to this day.
Every house here displays all kinds of furniture and vintage goods. You can only enjoy this kind of scenery in this area! 😄
