Kawa no Soba

After drinking around Nakasu, Fukuoka, Kawa no Soba is a place you will want to stop by. Located along the Nakagawa River, this restaurant works both as a place for chuka soba, a light ramen-style noodle dish, and as an izakaya-style spot, making it a popular choice for ending the night. It has counter seats that are easy to use even when visiting alone, as well as relaxed table seating, making it convenient as a second or third stop.

I originally thought the ramen would be the star, but the fried rice was every bit as good! It had great wok hei and a fantastic texture. Eating it together with the ramen was such a satisfying combo. This is definitely a place worth coming back to.

Lake Suwa

Located almost in the center of Nagano Prefecture, Lake Suwa is the largest lake in the prefecture, with a circumference of about 16 km and surrounded by mountains. Along its nature-rich shores, fully developed cycling and jogging paths allow visitors to enjoy the beautiful scenery. The area is also home to numerous attractions, including visiting all four shrines of Suwa Taisha, appreciating art at museums, and soaking in hot springs with views of the lake.

If you're staying at a hotel by the lake, you should definitely go out for a walk at night. Lake Suwa has a completely different vibe after dark than it does during the day. Without the noise of the city, just sitting by the lake, zoning out, and looking at the night view is one of the most relaxing moments of the trip.

Hitachi Seaside Park

Hitachi Seaside Park is a large park that spans an area of about 215 hectares. During springtime, daffodils, tulips, and nemophila bloom. In early summer, there are roses, and in summer, there are zinnias and sunflowers. Autumn brings forth kochia and cosmos. During winter ice tulips, plum blossoms, and other seasonal flowers bloom. In particular, the nemophilia that bloom from mid-April through early May are lauded for their gorgeous blue color, blending the sky, sea, and flowers together into a vast expanse of blue.

Standing on the hillside and looking out at the sea of flowers stretching all the way to the sky and the shore really felt like stepping into a fairy tale.
It was even more breathtaking in person than in the photos.

One of the largest ski resorts in Japan, Naeba is known for its dry, high-quality snow. Its wide variety of courses, which have also hosted World Cup races, can be enjoyed by everyone from beginners to advanced skiers. The 4 km downhill course is truly spectacular.

I met a lot of fellow skiers from Taiwan at Naeba Ski Resort. Everyone was super friendly, and we shared gear and info about the runs with each other.

Skiing together was way more fun than skiing alone. We were laughing pretty much nonstop.

There are lots of Japan-exclusive items and Tokyo-themed products inside. The Pick a Brick wall is especially satisfying, and the cheerful vibe—with colorful LEGO displays everywhere—makes it really easy to go a little overboard.

The overall decor is new and beautiful, and every dessert display is incredibly refined. Just looking at them makes it way too easy to go overboard. It’s basically heaven for dessert lovers.

Compared to the mushroom-shaped one, I personally like Takenoko no Sato more. The cookie is flakier, and the chocolate sweetness is smoother too 🥰

When you come out of Tokyo Station’s Yaesu north exit, you will be in the huge eatery mall, GRANSTA YAEKITA. Each of three floors has its characteristic - “Kurobei Yokocho (B1)” in the classic adult air with quality restaurants, “Yaekita Shokudo (1F)“ in a casual setting with a restaurant produced by a food magazine, udon noodles with a unique in-store soup, and other delights, and “Kitamachi Sakaba (2F)” with a beer hall and Japanese pubs great for a big or small group.

Character Street is seriously dangerous for your wallet. Chiikawa, Pokémon, and the Jump Shop are all super cute, and I spent forever just taking photos.

I unexpectedly found this place in the underground shopping area at Tokyo Station, and the Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki was even better than I expected.
The omelet was super fluffy, and there were lots of layers of noodles and cabbage inside. It was really filling.
