The ocean here is unbelievably blue—it just makes you go quiet for a moment. Compared to Okinawa, this place feels less touristy and has more of a local vibe, which honestly makes it even more charming.

Aeon Mall Takamatsu
While the Aeon department store occupies the main part of the shopping mall, Aeon Mall Takamatsu also contains numerous shops for fashion, daily items, restaurants, and other services.
There are plenty of seats in the food court, so you never have to worry about finding a spot. The snacks are all delicious too!

Daihonzan Eigenji Temple
Since its establishment in 1361, it has been the head temple of the Eigenji school of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism, which has been dedicated to the study of zazen and prayers for safety under the sun. In the past, as many as 2,000 monks were said to have gathered here to practice Buddhism, and there are 127 branch temples throughout Japan.
Visiting left a deep impression on me. As soon as I entered the temple, I felt a sense of tranquility and peace that really calmed my mind.

Chikubu Island measures just a sheer 2km all around at its perch on the northern end of Lake Biwa. It remains a point of faith and power spot for many since ancient times.
The Chikubushima cruise is an unforgettable experience. Cruising across Lake Biwa on the Biwako Kisen lets you enjoy beautiful natural scenery, especially the views of Chikubu Island.
