The hot spring water has a smooth, silky feel that’s really nice to soak in. With the mist outside and the lake view, it honestly feels like being in a commercial.
There’s also a shopping street nearby with some Ainu-related souvenirs, and it feels very safe and pleasant for an evening walk.

Samurai Residences in Kakunodate
In Kakunodate, part of the city of Semboku in Akita Prefecture, exists rows of old houses first attributed to the Ashina family in the early Edo period (around year 1620), that later flourished under the castle town of the Satake-Kita family. This district has been designated as protected in an effort to conserve traditional buildings.
The Samurai Residences in Kakunodate are a favorite among visitors. It's a great place to experience what life was like back then and to get a feel for Japanese history and culture.
