The snow quality in Myoko is amazing. The powder is so deep that if you’re not careful, you can sink right in and have a hard time getting back up 😂
The snow-covered trees along the lift ride are beautiful too, so the lift alone is worth it.
Overall, highly recommended. I’d definitely want to come back!

Shiga Kogen Yakebitaiyama Ski Resort
Shiga Kogen Yakebitaiyama Ski Resort, located in Yamanouchi Town, Shimotakai District, Nagano Prefecture, is renowned as one of the venues of the 1998 Winter Olympics. The resort offers 20 courses in total, known for its “Platinum Powder”-exceptionally dry and light snow.
Shiga Kogen is huge, and you can link different areas together, so you won’t get bored even after a full day.
The snow quality was great with lots of powder. Even though it was really windy and snowy that day, it actually made the conditions even better.
There are plenty of lifts, and getting around is fairly smooth, so it’s great for people who want to try a variety of runs.
The only downside is that the area is so big. If it’s your first time, it’s better to study the map before heading up. -
