The Kamifurano Lavender Festival will have its grand opening on July 4, 2026, and that evening Hinode Park will transform into a magical world of light and shadow.
Strolling through the dreamy lavender field light show while looking up at brilliant fireworks blooming in the night sky makes for the ultimate romantic summer night. I was so happy sitting alone in the lavender fields at dusk, waiting for and taking in Furano’s purple summer-night romance.

Shirogane Blue Pond
The Shirogane Blue Pond in Biei is famous as the top tourist attraction in the area, captivating visitors with its vivid blue. This man-made pond unexpectedly formed when water accumulated behind a dam that was constructed to prevent volcanic mudflows from Mt. Tokachi. The surreal blue of the pond, combined with the surrounding lush nature and dead larch trees, creates an enchanting atmosphere reminiscent of a fairy tale.
I took a sightseeing bus from Furano and finally arrived at the dreamy hidden gem of Hokkaido: Shirogane Blue Pond!
In the sunlight, the water turned a stunning Tiffany blue. As the light shifted and the viewing angle changed, the blue of the pond showed mesmerizing variations in depth and shade. It sparkled beautifully and was truly breathtaking! -
