A classic Meiji snack. The little mushroom shape is really cute, and there's also a bamboo shoot-shaped version. There are subtle differences in texture between the two, though, and if you ask Japanese people which camp they're in (mushroom/bamboo shoot), each has its own loyal supporters! Personally, I still prefer the mushroom shape〜

Underground Mall Grand Festa / Festa BLD. in front of Himeji Station
Underground Mall Grand Festa is the expansive 7,000㎡ shopping hub that’s directly connected via underground passages at select Himeji Station exits. The entire floor is divided into “streets” 1 through 6, each zone with plenty of Himeji soul food classics, apparel, cosmetics, local sake, Japanese confections and more to shop.
Himeji FESTA is located in front of JR Himeji Station and is a very convenient multipurpose shopping complex in central Himeji, easily accessible right from the station. Inside, there are many restaurants, clothing stores, variety shops, and lifestyle stores, as well as places to find local Himeji specialties and souvenirs. It’s a good place to sit down for a meal while shopping. For travelers using JR Himeji Station as their transportation hub, it’s very convenient for finding something to eat after arriving, taking a short break, or shopping before heading home.

Kappabashi Dougu Street®
Kappabashi Dougu Street is a shopping district between Tokyo’s Asakusa and Ueno areas that extends around 800 meters from north to south. It is an interesting shopping district, where around 160 shops all related to food items all gather, selling the obvious items like cooking utensils and tableware, as well as other things like restaurant signboards.
Tokyo’s Kappabashi Dougu Street is truly a treasure-hunting paradise for tableware enthusiasts and household goods lovers! It’s packed with all kinds of baking tools, exquisite lacquerware, and distinctive tableware. As you stroll through the streets and alleys, you can always stumble upon cute, beautifully designed bowls and plates. Whether it’s a delicate small dish with traditional Japanese patterns or a uniquely shaped Western-style plate, the affordable prices make it hard not to reach for your wallet.

Japanese vessel Dengama
Kappabashi Dougu Street is home to many kitchenware stores. Facing the Kikuyabashi intersection, the entrance to the Kappabashi Dougu Street, this Japanese tableware store is always crowded with shoppers. Inside the store, as well as outside the store, you will find a lineup of dishes purchased directly from the kiln, creating an atmosphere similar to that of a pottery market, which is popular among foreign tourists.
This place is truly a paradise for lovers of pottery and traditional crafts. The calm, elegant atmosphere inside lets you slow down and carefully appreciate the delicate textures and craftsmanship of Arita ware and pieces from renowned kilns around Japan. Just quietly looking at these beautiful vessels makes me incredibly happy. The cute cups I was lucky enough to find and buy this time have now become favorites at home. I take them out every afternoon for tea, adding a little sense of occasion to everyday life~
