While near Lake Chuzenji, I stopped by the Tochigi Prefectural Nikko Natural Science Museum. The museum mainly introduces the natural environment, ecology, and seasonal scenery of the Nikko area. The exhibits are quite extensive, and they helped me, someone who originally came just to enjoy the scenery, better understand the natural stories behind these mountains and forests.
Inside, there are exhibits about Nikko's mountains, lakes, forests, and various plants and animals. Through models, photos, and informational displays, you can gain a clearer understanding of the natural environment around Lake Chuzenji and Mount Nantai. It doesn't feel too dry or boring. Instead, it feels like getting to know the scenery you just saw all over again.
The most interesting part was connecting the scenery I had actually seen with the museum's explanations. At first, I simply thought Mount Nantai was impressive and the lake view was beautiful, but after visiting, I realized there are actually many details about the natural environment here worth learning about.
