At Inuyama Castle, of course you can't miss Inuyama Castle Town, which is full of Edo-period charm! You can slowly stroll along the street and see traditional machiya townhouses, unique little shops, and snack shops. The whole street has a strong old-town Japanese atmosphere, and walking around really makes you feel like you're traveling.

What I liked most was that there was no need to rush. You can walk around, browse the shops along the street, and stop to buy any snacks that catch your eye. There are also plenty of photogenic spots along the street, and with the traditional buildings as a backdrop, even casual snapshots have a lot of character.

Arashiyama Onsen Saishiki no Yado Hanaikada

Located at the foot of the Togetsukyo Bridge spanning the Oi River, this hot spring inn is extremely convenient as a base for sightseeing in Arashiyama and Sagano. It boasts the only observation open-air bath in Arashiyama, where guests can bathe while enjoying the seasonal scenery of Arashiyama and the distant sacred mountain, Mt. Atago. Additionally, there are two types of indoor baths: one made of Japanese cypress and the other made of stone, as well as a reservable private open-air bath.

On this trip to Arashiyama, I passed by Arashiyama Onsen Saishiki no Yado Hanaikada. At first glance, I thought this inn had a lot of character. Its distinctly Japanese style made me want to take a closer look. The surrounding area also really feels like Arashiyama—quiet and filled with Kyoto's unique sense of leisure.

Although I only passed by this time and didn't stay there, seeing the inn's exterior and overall atmosphere made me interested. Especially when I imagined returning to a traditional Japanese inn like this after visiting the bamboo grove and Togetsukyo Bridge, soaking in the hot spring, and getting some good rest—it seemed like it would be very relaxing.

This visit was like scouting it out in advance, and it left a deep impression on me. Rather than just passing by in a hurry, I think an inn like this, with hot springs and a traditional Japanese atmosphere, is better suited for an overnight stay to enjoy it at a leisurely pace.

The next time I visit Arashiyama, I definitely want to arrange a stay here and turn the inn I only passed by this time into a real lodging experience, while fully enjoying Hanaikada's hot springs and Kyoto atmosphere.
Fukuoka Prefectural Tenjin Central Park

Located in the bustling Tenjin district of Fukuoka City, this park is a place of relaxation for county residents, boasting a total area of about 31,000 square meters. It features the stately "Fountain Plaza," made with stone pillars and materials from the old prefectural office building, a vast "Lawn Plaza" ideal for leisurely picnics and naps, and "high bars" that can be used for hanging or doing pull-ups, allowing visitors to spend their time freely and comfortably.

While shopping in Fukuoka's Tenjin area, I unexpectedly came across the riverside at Fukuoka Prefectural Tenjin Central Park. Compared with the bustling city center, it has a more laid-back and comfortable atmosphere. Walking slowly along the riverbank, you can see the surrounding buildings reflected on the water. The cityscape and natural scenery blend together, and it's also a nice place for photos.

The park is near downtown Tenjin, so it's a great place to take a walk after getting tired from shopping. Sitting by the river, enjoying the breeze, and watching people pass by, the pace suddenly slows down, creating an interesting contrast with the lively shopping district from just moments before.

Established in 1903, this 235 m-long covered shopping arcade is located just south of Shimotori Shopping Street, and its Approx. 18 m-wide walkway is the widest in western Japan.

In downtown Kumamoto, Sunroad Shinshigai is a great shopping street for browsing and taking a stroll. The street has a large covered arcade, so there's no need to worry even if it rains. Along the way, there are restaurants, coffee shops, drugstores, and all kinds of stores, and the overall atmosphere is quite lively.

Walking through the shopping street, you can get a sense of everyday life in Kumamoto. It doesn't feel as rushed as a tourist attraction and instead offers a more leisurely shopping experience. You can step into any store that catches your eye, and when you get hungry, it's easy to find a restaurant anytime.

It's connected to Shimotori Shopping Street, so you can visit both as part of the same shopping trip. Take your time walking around, enjoy the street views, and pick up some souvenirs or local goods along the way—the time passes before you know it.
