Soaring at an elevation of 1,048 meters, Nasu Highland Observatory offers sweeping views of the Nasu mountain range in its full majesty. Make your way here for an impeccable panorama of the Kanto Plain, and even the elegant peaks of the Yamizo Mountains far off on clear days. The evening hours are a perfect chance to bring someone special, as the observatory takes on a romantic air thanks to stunning night views and glittering city lights below.
Standing up high and looking out over all of Nasu Highland, it really looks like a giant green carpet spread out below you.

World Heritage Kasuga Taisha Shrine / Kasuga Wakamiya Onmatsuri Festival
The "Kasuga Wakamiya Onmatsuri" is held at Wakamiya, a subordinate Kasuga Taisha Shrine. It's a grand festival praying for a bountiful harvest and the peace and comfort of all people. Nowadays, the rituals begin in July, with the main events taking place from December 15th to 18th.
There are lots of food stalls around the shrine selling festival-only treats. Watching the festivities while snacking is just so much fun.

Ouchi-juku
More than 30 thatched-roof homes stand in Ouchi-juku, where the townscape still reflects the Edo-Period. It used to prosper as a post station along the former Aizu West Highway 400 years ago.
It really feels like you've traveled back in time to the Edo period—like being a time traveler!
