Murata Town Street with Kura (storehouses)
Murata, located between Sendai and Yamagata, used to flourish for a long time as a business town. The main product was Safflowers which is a convenient raw material for dyestuff and cosmetics.
This city was a bustling hub for merchants during the Edo period, connecting Yamagata and Sendai. It really thrived thanks to all the trading back then.

It's really close to the Aomori Museum of Art, so I just stopped by while I was in the area.
