Shimamui Coast
Located on the Shakotan Peninsula in Hokkaido, Shimamui Coast is renowned for its stunning scenery-featuring sheer cliffs and crystal-clear waters so vibrant they've earned the name “Shakotan Blue”. This coastal gem is also recognized as one of the 100 Best Shores in Japan.
This is an amazing hidden gem on the Shakotan Peninsula in Hokkaido. It's one of the few coastlines in Hokkaido with crystal-clear blue water. The walk from the parking lot to the observation deck isn't too far, but the view is absolutely breathtaking. The endless blue sea and unique rock formations make you feel like you're in another country.
