1. Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium
One of Okinawa’s most popular tourist spots.
Within the aquarium’s main spot, “Kuroshio Sea,” visitors can see whale sharks, which are the world’s largest species of fish, as well as the world’s first successfully bred reef manta rays. Seeing these types of fish, which can reach up to 8.8 meters in length, up close is a real thrill! The sights combined with the surrounding gentle blue light makes it feel like you’re floating through the ocean.
2. DMM Kariyushi Aquarium
This new form of entertainment aquarium makes full use of cutting-edge video presentations and spatial productions. Using both lighting and BGM, the aquarium creates a fantastical ocean-like world. The aquarium’s free official app ties in as well, presenting introductions to different types of marine life as you enjoy the show. App is supported in English and Chinese (traditional/simplified).
The aquarium is conveniently located, just a 20-minute drive from Naha Airport, and it is connected to the commercial facility “Iias Okinawa Toyosaki.”
