There are several choices available for transportation from Haneda Airport to Tokyo’s city center, such as buses, taxis, rental cars, and trains (such as Tokyo Monorail). This article will focus on Tokyo Monorail, a popular and convenient transportation option. Not only is it a convenient way to get to the city center, but it can also take you to other important areas, such as stations on the outskirts of the train lines and Haneda Airport’s International Passenger Terminal. Without further ado, we will introduce our carefully selected spots to visit for both first-time travelers to Haneda Airport as well as Tokyo FIT (Foreign Independent Tour; independent solo travel) travelers.

①Sightseeing Spots Around Hamamatsucho Station ~West Side~

From arrival at Haneda Airport’s international terminal to Hamamatsucho Station, the Tokyo Monorail can get you there in as little as 13 minutes. It’s easy to reach sightseeing spots like Shibuya and Shinjuku using the Yamanote Line from Hamamatsucho Station. However, Hamamatsucho Station isn’t just a place to change lines; there are plenty of great sightseeing spots in the area around the station, so be sure not to miss out!
To the west of Hamamatsucho Station are Zojo-ji, a temple with over 600 years of history, as well as Tokyo Tower, which features an observation platform that looks out over Tokyo.

To the east of Hamamatsucho Station is “Hamarikyu Gardens,” an iconic Tokyo garden area, and from there you can also head to other popular spots, such as Odaiba by water bus and Asakusa. Additionally, you can see a gorgeous view of Tokyo’s ocean, Rainbow Bridge, and travelling boats from “Takeshiba Pier.”

③There Are So Many Fun Spots to Visit Along the Railway Lines!

There are so many fun places to visit along the railway between Haneda Airport and Hamamatsucho Station! For example, Oikeibajo (nicknamed “Tokyo City Keiba,” or TCK) hosts the amazing illumination event “TOKYO MEGA ILLUMINATION” and is located right off of “Oi Keibajo Mae Station”! The racecourse’s illumination is the largest in all of Kanto, utilizing approximately 8 million bulbs, and the entire racecourse is covered in lights. We highly recommend this as a sightseeing stop at nighttime!

④Your Entry Point to Japan, Haneda Airport’s International Passenger Terminal, is Also Full of Things to See!

Haneda Airport’s International Passenger Terminal is a commercial facility that hosts a variety of shops and restaurants.
The 4th floor of the terminal features “Edo-Koji Street,” a reproduction of a street from the Edo period when samurai existed, and the shops there sell clothing, fashion items, cosmetics, and souvenirs. There are also plenty of places to buy food and drinks like ramen and sushi, as well as famous restaurants, so it’s hard to choose where to stop! Past the security gate there are also food courts and duty-free shops. Be sure to arrive a little early on your way home to enjoy the area to the fullest!

⑤Tokyo Monorail is Also Convenient when Changing Lines

“Hamamatsucho Station,” located at the end of Tokyo Monorail, is an extremely convenient access point, as the JR Yamanote Line and JR Keihin Tohoku Line pass through the station directly, and the Toei Oedo Line and Toei Asakusa Line can be easily reached from “Daimon Station,” just a short walk away. The Toei Oedo Line can take you to Roppongi Station, which is surrounded by high-class restaurants, but you’ll also find delicious food around at reasonable prices at lunchtime. Be sure to stop by during lunch for a budget-friendly meal of amazing food from famous restaurants!
