Tokyo Daijingu was founded as a sister shrine in Tokyo to Ise Grand Shrine, and it’s also known as “Tokyo’s Ise.” It was the location of the first public “shinzen kekkonshiki,” a wedding held at a Shinto shrine, and as such it has become a popular stop for women looking for marriage. Across the grounds are various heart-shaped symbols, called “i-no-me,” or “boar’s eye,” which people have taken to be a symbol of romantic luck, and they’re often photographed.
